It's Wendy's World!
USC Intermediate Game Design & Production Final Project
Spring 2025
Considered USC Games' most ambitious course in game development, "Intermediate" challenges 2 students to design and program an original 15-minute game in Unity over the course of just one semester, creating all code and assets from scratch My partner and I decided we wanted to focus in on an eerie narrative-puzzle game in the analog horror genre, and thus, It's Wendy's World was born!
For this project, I created many design prototypes on paper and in Unity while testing a new build every week. Additionally, I created stylized assets for the game and edited over a dozen "channels" that play on the haunted television that serves as the game's centerpiece. I also worked to craft a detailed burndown chart that tracked our production progress for each major milestone (Vertical Slice, Alpha, and Beta).
We worked closely with a student from Berklee School of Music to record voiceovers for the channels and original music/sound effects for our gameplay. The entire game takes roughly 20 minutes to complete and tells a complete story involving a child actress and her traumatizing experience with fame, challenging players to think critically about their environment and the story at hand.
