Oopz-Oofs
USC Games MFA Thesis
Fall 2023-Spring 2024
After attending a recruitment event for the MFA students making their thesis projects, I immediately fell in love with the concept of Oopz-Oofs. As a child, I absolutely adored Goat Simulator, a game that seemed quite similar to the atmosphere that director Ivan Pu portrayed in his pitchdeck of Oopz-Oofs.
Serving as the sole member of the narrative team, I worked closely with Ivan to develop the story beats, dialogue, and comedic bystander dialogue for the entirety of the game. The game tells the story of a money-hungry computer programmer who must learn to appreciate the small things in life after switching bodies with his dog, realizing that all he really needs is love and companionship.
Everyone on the team brought something funny, interesting, and fresh to the table, and the game turned out to be quite fun!

One of our several team hangouts, featuring Tilly (Ivan's dog who inspired the game)!

Screencap from the game in which John (the protagonist) bites the grocery store cashier, realizing that he may or may not have gotten to give his dog his shots.

Our booth setup at the 2024 USC Games Expo! It was a lot of fun watching players laugh at the wackiness of the game and peeing on random objects.
