Scare Crow

USC Advanced Games Project

Fall 2024-Spring 2025

 

For my final semester at USC, I wanted to work on a project that was lighthearted and funny with interesting characters at its core-- a goal that led me to work as narrative director for Scare Crow.

As the sole narrative designer with a design goal of minimal dialogue, I worked hard to create a story that could be told almost entirely through visuals alone. I worked closely alongside the art and design teams to ensure that the story effortlessly wove into the gameplay while maintaining the same slapstick sense of humor the director wanted to portray.

Our game premiered at the USC Games expo and launched on Steam in May 2025! I had a fantastic experience creating the main characters (Casey the Crow and Sergeant Squeak), collaborating with marketing to create a series of comics, and getting close with my fellow team members.
